ALA loves Samurai Shortstop
>> Tuesday, October 24, 2006
The American Library Association has been showing me a lot of love. First, Samurai Shortstop made their Top Ten Best Sports Books of the Year. Then librarians nominated it for both the yearly Best Books for Young Adults list and the Best Books for Reluctant Readers list.
Now the ALA has named Samurai Shortstop to its 2006 Top Ten in Youth First Books list! I don't have a link because it hasn't officially been posted yet. The announcement will officially come in Booklist on November 15, 2006.
I gotta say, as much as the ALA loves Samurai Shortstop, I love them more.

Hey, Alan. Congrats on all the (well-deserved) acclaim! Did you know your book has also been nominated for a Cybil (Children's and YA Bloggers' Literary Awards - the first annual!) too? The shortlist of the top five nominations will be published in January. Best of luck!

I did know that! In fact, I finally got around to blogging about it here.
