Map-making, Part II

Here's my map! The book is called "The League of Seven," and it takes place (pretty obviously, I guess) in an alternate American history...

Whoa! This looks like a world in which the Native persons have not been killed or run off... yet?

Can't wait to read this!!

I like the "here there be monsters" touch.

@ Tanita: Thanks! I hope a publisher buys it! :-)

@ unwashedflyer: I had a lot of fun imagining a United States where the native tribes became the dominant civilizations, those on the east coast blending with a few European settlements. :-)

@ Budd: I had to get "Here There Be Monsters" in there--and the kicker is, there really ARE monsters there...

This is an interesting site. I plan to explore it a bit more. I was wondering if you meant to use certain names that can be viewed as, well, non-native. Like the New York Iroqouis are called the Haudenosaunee, and Dakota/Lakota usually view Sioux as an insult.

Hi Anonymous -

Thanks for stopping by. I'm going to continue to use Iroquois, as I'm using the Confederacy, mostly. But your information about the Sioux/Dakota is something I wasn't aware of. I'll follow up on that. If it's as you say, I'll be sure to use Dakota, not Sioux. Thank you!
