The Great Picture Book Culling: Day 4

>> Sunday, January 4, 2009

At this rate we're not doing a whole lot of culling. Jo keeps picking a bunch of our favorites. Here's what she read tonight. . .

A Kitten Tale by Eric Rohmann - a very nice story with cute art. The kittens all have real personality and very expressive faces. This was Jo's favorite book of the night and here's her favorite page. I love the kitten so curious about the snow that he has his paws pressed against the window.

Alan's favorite of the night was Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin with art by Betsy Lewin. I should have known his favorite picture would be the one of the cows gathered around the typewriter. I've lost count of how many old typewriters we have. . .
My favorite of the night was George and the Dragon by Chris Wormell. All my favorite pages are big double spreads that won't fit in the scanner, so I'll just show you the cover. This is a wonderfully funny book - quick and punchy with a great twist at the end. It's been a favorite with every group of kids I've ever read it to.
Jo's reads tonight also included Olivia and the Missing Toy by Ian Falconer and Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney with art by Anita Jeram.

Read-a-thon status so far: 18 books.
