Here there be DragonCon

DragonCon has come and gone, and we three fans are certainly sorry to see it go. I look forward to the day when my daughter Jo (currently four) will be old enough to go off and do her own thing while we do ours--or, at the very least, be able to stay up late with us all night watching Red Dwarf outtakes and Star Wars fan films.

My wife Wendi is fond of telling people that DragonCon is like our DisneyWorld: the 47-story glass elevators in the Atlanta Marriott Marquis are better (and higher!) than many parachute drops, and Jo gets to see all her favorite costumed characters. Here's a taste of what we saw this year:

We love the DC heroes, and the villains!

There were a couple of good R2-D2s and C-3POs this year, but this duo was by far the best--complete with pre-recorded dialogue between the two.

Hellboy! Drinking a Red Bull! I have to think that's a bad combination.

All hail the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

A funny alternative to all the expensive stormtrooper costumes out there: cardboard troopers!
